About Us

Our history

Pleasant Valley Poultry Started out in 2009 as a small farm poultry processor where we Grow, Process and Sell Pasture raised and Free Range Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys and other more exotic Poultry and Rabbits under USDA Inspection for a Healthier alternative to the big commercial grown products. (Mill Street Pet Treats) is a partner, using the same All Natural Poultry to make our pet food for your Dogs, Cats, and other carnivore pets.

Why don't wild carnivoer eat vegetables

Wild carnivores primarily eat meat, as they are adapted to hunt and consume other animals. The specific diet of a carnivore depends on its species, size, habitat, and available prey.

Wild animals that eat meat—carnivores—need it because it provides the essential nutrients they require for survival, growth, and reproduction. Their bodies are adapted specifically to digest and metabolize animal tissue, which is rich in energy and vital nutrients. Here’s why meat is crucial for these animals:

1. High Energy Content

  • Meat is calorie-dense, providing a significant amount of energy in a relatively small quantity. This is especially important for active predators that expend a lot of energy hunting.

2. Protein Supply

  • Meat is an excellent source of protein, which is necessary for:
    • Building and repairing tissues.
    • Supporting muscle development and maintenance.
    • Producing enzymes and hormones that regulate bodily functions.

3. Essential Nutrients

  • Taurine: Many carnivores (e.g., cats) cannot synthesize taurine, an amino acid found abundantly in animal tissues. Without it, they suffer severe health problems.
  • Fatty Acids: Meat provides essential fats that help with energy storage, insulation, and cell function.
  • Vitamins and Minerals:
    • Vitamin B12: Found only in animal tissue, it supports brain and nerve function.
    • Iron: Heme iron from meat is crucial for oxygen transport in the blood.
    • Zinc: Supports immune function and healing.

Pets love raw, raw dehydrated and raw freeze dryed meats to bring out the natural carnivore in your pet as nature intended

4. Specialized Digestive Systems

  • Carnivores have shorter digestive tracts compared to herbivores, as meat is easier and faster to break down than plant material.
  • They also lack the enzymes to digest cellulose, a major component of plant cell walls, making meat their most efficient food source.

5. Predator-Prey Evolution

  • Carnivores evolved as predators to balance ecosystems, controlling herbivore populations and preventing overgrazing. Their need for meat is a result of millions of years of adaptation to their ecological role.

6. Lack of Plant-Processing Adaptations

  • Unlike herbivores, carnivores lack the specialized teeth, enzymes, and multi-chambered stomachs required to digest fibrous plant materials effectively.

In essence, wild carnivores need meat because their biology and evolution have made it the ideal and often sole source of nutrition for their survival.
